Penny Best is the best pen-name I could come up. Penny and I have become one of many Goodreads romance authors and I’m self-publishing a trilogy of steamy reads called Wild Irish Lust series on Amazon Kindle.
I write what I want to read and throughly enjoy penning short, steamy stories with strong female leads and rugged handsome men.
My lead character is Minnie Hatton. Her lust for the Tandy Twins emerged from the Wild Atlantic Way and the picturesque Irish landscapes and although the trilogy is not the standard romantic – the Irish flavour of rough and dirty, is appealing to readers.
I’ve read many cowboy menage romance books, or reverse harem and I felt Ireland needed some more of its own genre.
Historical romance usually means bodice ripping, regency romance or twisting Victorian morality. Much as I adore of all of this lustful and sensuous reads, I find Ireland might need a genre of its own. Also, people don’t always admit to such steamy reading material. Let’s change that! My alter-ego Penny Best feels that it is time that some of us prudes admitted to needing and wanting more sex in our books? (Penny is waving her manicured hands in the air and sipping on a G&T).
Penny Best is the fictional persona for an explicit romance writer who has thrown caution to the wind. She is my fictional persona who will writes short, hot steamy novellas and has a degree in tantric sex therapy. Having spent her early twenties working in high-end gentleman’s clubs in London, Penny has now found her own inner goddess and runs naturalist yoga retreats for celebrities in exotic locations across the globe. As a competent sailor, Penny takes time out of her hectic writing and business schedule to battle the wilds of the Atlantic around her coastal based refurbished castle in the north-west of Ireland. Here, with a trusty sheep dog and listening to country and western music, Penny is at her happiest. She succumbs to the local gin, the odd hot whiskey and has fallen passionately in lust with her own rugged, Irish scuba diver. Penny’s dream is to meet Oprah, Pierce Brosnan, Nora Roberts and Jackie Collins and she aims to write for the rest of her days.
The real me is a traditionally published crime writer. Therefore all of this venture is nerve-wrecking. Also Irish people are renowned for joking about sex but we rarely write about it. Therefore, Penny Best is a new, Irish erotic romance writer admitting her desire to write the next, top, hot historical novellas. EEK.
Although my alter-ego has her already pert tits hoisted and is ready to party in the erotic aisles…. I am a modest, traditional, Irish gal trotting to keep up with Penny’s confidence and enthusiasm.
But – it is fun frolicking in the naughtiness. I’ve had the best time trawling for sexy images and gorgeous hunks, thinking about marketing and promotion and making websites.
